Church of the Advent

Boston, Massachusetts

The Church of the Advent in Boston, Massachusetts was designed by John H. Sturgis in the Gothic Revival style and built between 1878 and 1888. The church is cruciform in plan, with a square central tower measuring approximately 160 feet high. The church employs two types of construction: brick and masonry for the walls, and wood framing for the floors, interior stairs and roof.  Exterior and interior wall construction from the street level upward is of brick masonry.

This project won a 2008 Massachusetts Historical Commission Preservation Award.
