U.S. Custom House, Portland
The U.S. Custom House in Portland, Maine, was designed by Alfred B. Mullet, Supervising Architect to the Treasury, and completed in 1872. The comprehensive restoration included the exterior decorative cut granite facade, slate roofing, original wood windows, and ornate interior gilded plaster work. The U.S. Custom House won the 2014 Maine State Historic Preservation Award for Restoration, as well as a 2014 Greater Portland Landmarks award for Outstanding Restoration.
